Tazena Capital was founded by Jake Hampton, an insurtech entrepreneur, angel investor, and advisor with over three decades of experience in the global insurance ecosystem.
Jake’s career has spanned the entire industry value chain—from global carriers and international brokers to high-growth technology startups. His foundational experience includes roles at Chubb Insurance, Jardine Insurance Brokers, and serving as Executive Vice President for a Lloyd’s of London subsidiary, where he led all US operations.
As a founder himself, Jake built Virtual MGA, a leading cloud-based underwriting platform, which he led as President for over 13 years through its successful acquisition by Insurity in 2020. This unique blend of "big industry" perspective and "startup" execution allows him to provide invaluable strategic guidance to early-stage founders.
A cornerstone of the Austin investment community, Jake currently serves as the Board Secretary for the Central Texas Angel Network (CTAN), one of the most active and respected angel investment groups in the United States.
